Atomic Structure Video Clips

Use will be made of several video clips over the course of the Atomic Structure unit. The video clips provide an informative and entertaining presenation of the history of our attempt to understand the structure of the atom.  Enjoy!

Crash Course in Chemistry: The Electron

In this ~13-minute video, Hank brings us the story of the electron and describes how reality is a kind of music, discussing electron shells and orbitals, electron configurations, ionization and electron affinities, and how all these things can be understood via the periodic table.  Beginning around 4:30, Hank begins to talk about the details of quantum mechanics, the orbitals, and the electron configuration for elements.
