Day 17 - Tuesday, May 26

Welcome to Day 17 of eLearning. Today has two parts. First, you will become the Master of balancing nuclear equations. And second, you will gain an introduction through reading to the concept of a half-life.

NOTICE: Packet pages are available online and can be printed as needed. You would not have any of these pages since we started this unit after the dismissal of school due to COVID19.

Here's What to Do:

  1. Video - Decay, Bombardment, and Balancing    (13 min)

Mr. H reviews nuclear decay and decay particles, before discussing nuclear bombardment reactions. The strategies for balancing nuclear equations are discussed and numerous examples are given. Print the worksheet above - Nuclear Equation Balancing Worksheet - and get out your favorite Periodic Table and follow along with Mr. H.

Answers to Balancing Practice Worksheet: Questions 1 and 2 || Question 3

  2. WebAssign - Nuclear Equations    (10 - 25 min)

Use Mr. H's instruction and examples as a guide to assist in the completion of this WebAssign. A periodic table is recommended. See link above in grey box.

  3. Chapter 19.3-4 Reading Guide on Half Life    (20 - 40 min)

Read Chapter 19.3-4 of your textbook and complete this Reading Guide. Enjoy every last minute of it because it is your last Reading Guide of the course.
