Unit 2 - Quiz 1

2014-15 School Year


The first quiz of the Wave Mechanics unit will be taken at the end of class on Thursday, October 23. The quiz will address the following objectives:

  1. The student should be able to describe the nature of a wave and distinguish between that which is vibrating and that which is moving.

  2. The student should be able to distinguish between the variety of wave properties - wavelength, amplitude, frequency, period, and speed and be able to relate the quantities that are mathematically related.

  3. The student should be able to use a standing wave model to analyze a wave pattern and to determine relationships between the wave pattern, vibrational frequency, string length, wavelength, and speed.
