Unit 1 - Quiz 3
2014-15 School Year
The third quiz of the Ray Optics unit will be taken
on Tuesday, October 7. The quiz will address the following objectives:
- The student should be able to identify the what, when, why, when not, and how of refraction.
- The student should be able to use the speed of light,
index of refraction, or optical density information about two media in
order to predict the direction of bending of a light ray at the
boundary between two media; students should be able to draw the light
ray in the appropriate region, demonstrating a bending away or towards
the normal line.
- The student
should be able to use Snell's Law of refraction to determine an index
of refraction value of a medium if given that path of light or to
determine an angle of incidence or refraction at a boundary if given
two n values and an angle.
- The student should be able to combine SOH CAH TOA with Snell's Law to analyze a complex refraction problem.
