The third quiz of the Ray Optics unit will be taken on Tuesday, October 7. The quiz will address the following objectives:

  1. The student should be able to identify the what, when, why, when not, and how of refraction.

  2. The student should be able to use the speed of light, index of refraction, or optical density information about two media in order to predict the direction of bending of a light ray at the boundary between two media; students should be able to draw the light ray in the appropriate region, demonstrating a bending away or towards the normal line.

  3. The student should be able to use Snell's Law of refraction to determine an index of refraction value of a medium if given that path of light or to determine an angle of incidence or refraction at a boundary if given two n values and an angle.

  4. The student should be able to combine SOH CAH TOA with Snell's Law to analyze a complex refraction problem.
