The following schedule information was prepared at the beginning of the unit.  It's role is to serve as an organizational tool for students to find both required and helpful resources relevant to daily activities. The schedule is updated as the unit progresses.  


Day 1:  Monday, December 6

Lesson Plan:
  • Introduce Unit on Gases
  • ChemThink - Behavior of Gases
  • Discuss Chapter 5.1 Reading Sheet

Homework:
  • Study Chapter 5.1
  • Finish ChemThink - Behavior of Gases (Tutorial and Questions)

Day 2:  Tuesday, December 7

Lesson Plan:

Shortened Schedule: 40 minutes
  • Discuss gas properties (T, V, P and n); demonstrations
  • Discuss #1-3 on pp. 1-2 of Packet

Day 3:  Wednesday, December 8

Lesson Plan:
  • Nature of a Gas:  discuss #1-3 on pp. 1-2; discuss gas properties, units, definitions, etc.; do #4-7 on pp. 2-3; discuss barometers and manometers and do #8-9 on p. 3
  • Discuss ideal gas law; use to derive the big 4 gas laws
  • Liquid nitrogen demos

Homework:
  • Read/Study Chapter 5.2-3
  • Finish WebAssign - Chapter 5.1:  Gas Properties
