Unit 12 Schedule

The following schedule information was prepared at the beginning of the unit.  It's role is to serve as an organizational tool for students to find both required and helpful resources relevant to daily activities. The schedule is updated as the unit progresses.  


Day 1:  Monday, April 25

Lesson Plan:
  • Organization:  packets, lab notebooks, test comments
  • Check Chapter 13.1 Reading Sheet (pp. 23-24)
  • Acids and Bases - Arrhenius definition; dissociation/ionization; naming; strong vs. weak acids and bases (examples of each; meaning of strong and weak); conductivity demos
  • Arrhenius acids and bases: packet p. 1, #1-2
  • Strong acids vs. weak acids; ID formulas for SAs and SBs; p. 1, #3-4
  • Bronsted Lowry definition - meaning of a proton; dissociation equations; conjugate acid/base pairs

  • Quickly memorize the formulas of the six strong acids and the six strong bases.

  • Stay on top of your textbook reading;  treat it as an endothermic process.  The energy which you put into it will effect the quality of the product.
