Unit 3 Schedule
2013-2014

The following schedule information was prepared at the beginning of the unit.  It is not fixed in stone. It's role is to serve as an organizational tool for students to find both required and helpful resources relevant to daily activities. The schedule is seldom updated as the unit progresses; if we fall behind, then topics or depth of topics will be reduced in order to keep the overall pace required to maximize coverage of the entire curriculum.

Day 1: Thursday, October 3

Lesson Plan:
  • Discuss test, new unit, topic change and strategy change
  • Do Lab W1 - A Wiggle in Time as a demonstration
  • Discuss frequency, period, amplitude
  • Science reasoning activity - Mass on a Spring (10 min. answers + 10 min. sharing)

Homework:

Announcements:
  • This is a short unit; there will be a quest at the end; a quest is a hybrid of a quiz and a test.
  • Readings will now begin from the Waves Chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

Day 2: Friday, October 4

Lesson Plan:
  • Post-lab: make the connection between a wiggle in time and a wiggle in space and time; discuss the nature of a wave; check pp. 1-2 of Packet.
  • Do Lab W3 - A Wiggle in Time and Space Lab
  • Discuss properties of waves; Qs#1-11 on pp. 3-4 of Packet

Homework:

Announcements:
  • This is a short unit; there will be a quest at the end; a quest is a hybrid of a quiz and a test.
  • Have a great weekend
